13 THINGS YOU MIGHT FACE AS AN ENTREPRENEUR

… So often being a entrepreneur might seem like a endless story of

…WALKING ON SUNSHINE. You finally got the freedom to do what you want- when you like. You are your own boss- You can work on your passion. What can possibly go wrong?

…weeeell

1# YOUR WALLET MIGHT BE A BIT MORE EMPTY

2#YOU MIGHT FIND YOURSELF WORKING IN THE OFFICE FOR HOURS, AND I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT A DESK OFFICE- I AM TALKING ABOUT A CAFE

3#YOU WILL RISK TO GET ALONE WITH YOUR OWN THOUGHTS FOR A WHILE, FOR A LONG WHILE.

4#SOMETIMES YOU WILL BE SO OBSESSED WITH A PROJECT THAT YOU LOSE INTEREST FOR EVERYTHING ELSE AROUND YOU.

5#OTHER TIMES YOU WILL EXPERIENCE TO LOSE THE DRIVE OR MOTIVATION FOR A PERIOD- YOU JUST SIT THERE WITHOUT THE FEELING ABLE TO TAKE ACTION. YOU MIGHT STREAM A TV-EPISODE INSTEAD.

6#YOU MIGHT GET CAUGHT UP IN YOUR PART-TIME JOB.(“SO WAS THIS MENT TO BE A FULL-TIME OR A PART TIME THING?”)

7#JUST GET USED TO PARENTS THAT TELLS YOU “WE SUPPORT YOU NO MATTER WHAT”, BUT STILL EACH DAY WILL TRY TO REMIND YOU ON HAVING A PLAN B, ALSO KNOWN AS EDUCATION.

8#YOU FIND YOURSELF READING ARTICLES, VIDEOS ABOUT MARKETING, SALES AND INNOVATION ALL THE TIME. YOU MIGHT LISTEN MORE TO TEDTALKS THAN YOU HEAR YOUR OWN VOICE.

9#...JUST GET USED TO PITCH. AT LEAST BE PREPARED FOR A DAY OF EXPLAINING  THE SAME PITCH OF YOUR CONCEPT 15TIMES DURING A NETWORKING EVENT THAT LAST 1,5HOUR.

10#PEOPLE WILL ASK YOU A LOT OF CRITICAL QUESTIONS, DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY HATE YOUR IDEA- THEIR CURIOUS..OKAY, SOMETIMES THEY MIGHT DISLIKE IT.

11#YOU FIND YOURSELF IN CONVERSATION AND GETS EASILY MORE BORED OF TALKING ABOUT SUPERFICIAL THINGS LIKE MATERIAL THINGS OR PEOPLE-DRAMA. “HELLO, YOU COULD HAVE TALKED ABOUT OR WORKED ON SAVING THE WORLD INSTEAD…”

12# YOU MIGHT THINK THAT WATCHING A MOVIE IS A WASTE OF TIME, WHEN YOU COULD HAVE BEEN WORKING INSTEAD.

13#JUST ACCEPT THAT YOU CAN BE A BIT WEIRDER THAN THE AVERAGE PERSON, BUT YOUR STILL HUMAN, RIGHT(….RIIIGHT!?)

14# FORGET NORMAL SLEEPING HABITS, IT DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE…APPARENTLY

…okay, I lied. I ended up sharing 14things. Each day is not always I story of walking on sunshine. Its rain, its sunshine, its snowy, its windy and so on. But those days makes you appreciate the ones with sunshine more. It personally keeps me going- developing a progress. Slow progress is better than no progress at all.

STEP BACK- DON'T LOSE THE PURPOSE OF IT

Yeaah, I know it sucks. Sometimes it really sucks. That feeling when you have worked your ass off on a project- you feel close to reaching a milestone. Like really close to the point to start on a prototype, and you got a developer who can build the thing. Your almost "walking on sunshine" in your mind. Then you realize something. I did this with a challenge I have been working on finding a solution for since October 2014. After working on the project I had looked at the market and considered how I could "sell the project" for investors.

The thing is that when you get to caught up in the selling part- you suddenly find yourself understanding that you have lost the real reason why you started with the project in the first place; The true value- the core of why you truly need to start the project. I suddenly understood that after I had worked on the project I had lost the real reason for doing it.

It's time to go deep again- take some steps back.Where is the real challenge? Not the one I need to sell, but the one who will create value to the people I am solving the problem for. Is the solution I am thinking of really solving the challenge?

In the world of selling and marketing its easy to feel that you need to make the product "sexy" for the customer, something they would desire. Sometimes its better to walk back and reconsider it. Its how a project process is, you go & a little back and forth. Which at times can make you feel a bit lost, but then you find the track again and it suddenly makes more sense to you; What its really about and your solution might grow potential to reach a whole new level of greatness. So try to walk around, step back, and don't forget to use the sidewalk.

BYEBYE NEXT SNAPCHAT

After I publicly announced through this blog that I was starting on this journey, and especially after the post where I wrote about attending startups. Something interesting happened. I started to receive several offers of attendance in startups.

So good news for the people out there who want to attend a startup- the opportunities are endless!

BYE BYE MILLION CO-FOUNDER PUBLICITY

A really hard decision. I was introduced to these guys that are working on a project I believe has the opportunity to get to the level of snapchat and Instagram.YEAH pretty insane & good. During a consideration to attend the team- I said no. They showed me during our last meeting a mockup of the app and I must say that I feel that I currently have said goodbye to be a part of a future million-worth company. INSANE

…THEY SAY THAT LIFE STARTS AT THE END OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE, SO TODAY I LEFT PARTS OF IT.

Instead of bringing it forward and convince them about bringing me on the team, I decided to rather focus on the projects I’m currently involved in. Heartbreaking– I like those guys and their project. Its not like I flipped the finger to them. I offered them my support and if they need some help in the future I will see what I can to. But right know its not the right time for me personal to get attached to a project like that. Don’t get me wrong its nothing wrong with the people or the concept- but I need to stay focused on my values and targets for now and the future.

REACH OUTS During the process so far I have been engaged in some different opportunities and considered them.

I ALWAYS TAKE TIME TO LISTEN AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE STARTUPS/PROJECTS AND THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN IT. THEN I TRY TO SEE HOW I COULD FIT IN THAT PICTURE- WHAT THEY NEED OF ME & WHAT I NEED FROM IT.

It has also given me a clarity on what I want to- and what I would not like to focus on right now. It's probably not the last time I will have to pass an opportunity, but I believe that when you miss one- new ones will occur.
